Dining Out For Life is an annual fundraising event uniting volunteers, sponsors and local restaurants. The concept is simple. Restaurants donate a percentage of their sales to a local HIV service organization. In return, that local HIV service organization fills participating restaurants with diners.
Today is the day to get out and eat: Thursday, April 25. Foodies should make their reservations, and let your chosen participating restaurant know you’re there for Dining Out For Life. Then RSVP on Facebook and invite all your friends.

In 2018, more than 50 local organizations partnered with 3,000 participating restaurants, 3,000 volunteers and 300,000+ diners to raise $4.1 million. Proceeds go to organizations helping people living with HIV/AIDS in the United States and Canada. And the best part? The funds raised by each city remain there to provide help to people living with or impacted by HIV/AIDS.
How It Works
In addition, Dining Out For Life is an internationally organized effort and annual tradition. On the last Thursday in April, diners across North America gather at a participating restaurant to share a meal. A percentage of their bill is then donated to a local HIV/AIDS service organization. In NYC, the proceeds will support the HIV/AIDS programs and services of The Alliance for Positive Change.
In the meantime, the organization is always seeking help. That means even if you’r living outside a metropolis. Find out if your city participates in Dining Out For Life by clicking on the interactive map on the homepage.
Anyone interested in local or national partnership opportunities is encouraged send a message via e-mail. Or, if you’d like to learn more about bringing Dining Out For Life to your city, contact the organization for additional details. For questions, contact Rosie Whiteside at [email protected]c or 212-645-0875 ext. 394.
By enjoying a special meal with friends and family, you can help raise funds for those in our community living with HIV/AIDS.
