27th Annual NYC Dyke March
June 29 | 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Dykes from around the world will take to the streets of Manhattan on June 29 in celebration of our beautiful, diverse lives — and in protest of the persistent discrimination, harassment and violence we face each day in our own communities.
In recognition of the city’s role in this year’s international WorldPride events, and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, NYC Dyke March’s 2019 theme is Dykes Without Borders. We’re demanding equality and justice for our siblings who are persecuted by regressive immigration policies, as well as those living in nations — including the United States — that deny their fundamental rights.
NYC Dyke March was founded in 1993 as a demonstration of our First Amendment right to protest. Each year, the march has taken place without permits or sponsors. Volunteer marshals from within the dyke community keep demonstrators safe by blocking road traffic and facilitating movement.
Any person who identifies as a dyke is invited to march regardless of gender expression or identity, sex assigned at birth, sexual orientation, race, age, political affiliation, religious identity, ability, class, or immigration status.
Having rejected corporate sponsorship since its inception, NYC Dyke March is supported in large part by proceeds from grassroots community events.
