A Convening on Black Institution-Building

Honor the trailblazing contributions of leaders who founded and sustain Black cultural spaces and art institutions during a day of conversation, commemoration, and skill sharing. Participants include founder of We Buy Gold gallery Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels; New York City Council Majority Leader Laurie Cumbo; writer, curator, activist, and founder of the Black Contemporary Art Tumblr blog Kimberly Drew; artist and founder of Just Above Midtown gallery Linda Goode Bryant; Director and Chief Curator of The Studio Museum in Harlem Thelma Golden; Executive Director of The Laundromat Project Kemi Ilesanmi; and artist, archivist, and educator Kameelah Janan Rasheed.
