Soprano Denise Young is passionate about the human experience in song. Acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and jazz master Henry Threadgill proclaimed “Denise Young is a voice that must be heard.” Her repertoire spans string quartets, symphonies, jazz quartets, professional chorales and solo recitals, and she is known to blend opera, jazz, gospel and classical hues in her performances.

Ms. Young has collaborated with notable musicians such as Grammy-award winning artist Larnelle Harris, Phillip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire, Grammy-award winning trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard, as well as with Colorado Symphony and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Her first recording, Denise Young, Soprano, a multi-genre musical narrative, was produced by jazz greats Tuck and Patti Andres under the Blue Organza Productions label and released in October of last year; the CD features performances by Grammy-award winning trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard, Def Poetry artist Sekou Andrews, renowned jazz duo Tuck Andress on guitar, Patti Cathcart Andress and John James on background vocals, and Juan Escovedo on percussion.

Lauded as the “most powerful black woman in Silicon Valley” by Noah Kulwin from Vice News (November 17, 2017), Ms. Young has recently retired from her 22-year position as the head of Global Human Resources for the Apple Corporation, and has chosen to pursue a new career in music. She makes her home in the Bay Area. For Ms. Young’s website, please visit: http://www.deniseyoungsoprano.com
