toni morrison profile

Honor the life and work of legendary storyteller and Nobel prize–winner Toni Morrison with a screening of Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am (Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, 2019, 120 min.) In the film, Morrison leads an assembly of her peers (critics and colleagues alike) on an exploration of race, America, history, and the human condition through her literature, including novels The Bluest Eye, Sula, and Song of Solomon. The Pieces I Am weaves art and history with Morrison’s biography and extensive career in a touching portrait of a writer who profoundly changed the American literary landscape. Ola Ronke Akinmowo, founder of the Free Black Women’s Library, offers introductory remarks.

This event is free, but please RSVP. Seating is limited and is first come, first served.
