MetFridays – Pride
June 15, 2018 | 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Celebrate Pride Weekend at MetFridays with several galleries, discussions, and activities all free with admission into the museum. Dance the night away at Show Me Love, a silent dance party celebrating queer and transgender people of color, located in the Temple of Dendur in the Sacker Wing. Set lists will be performed by groundbreaking DJs Papi Juice, DJ Samson, and a unique performance by Helado Negro. Hosted by Housing Works, an organization committed to ending HIV/AIDS and the homeless crisis. After you dance, keep moving with a Voguing workshop in the Charles Engelhard court, no prior experience required!
Explore the vast collections of the met through a nonbinary lens in discussions with MET curators, activists, and artists throughout the night. Join the panel discussion at 6:30 pm in the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium on Feminist Futures of intersectionality and supporting one another within the Feminist movement. Explore the world of Gay and Lesbian art with discussions with Gonzalo Casals, Executive Director at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in lower Manhattan, the only LGBTQ dedicated museum in the world.
