This winter, The Museum at FIT puts the world’s favorite fabric front and center in a new exhibit illustrating its history with more than 70 examples from its collection. Included will be examples of 1840s denim workwear; the WWII-era denim jumpsuits of Rosie the Riveter fame; a 1950s denim jacket from the era when jeans were a symbol of teenage rebellion; a 1970s denim leisure suit; and more haute takes from the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Roberto Cavalli, Chloë and Ralph Lauren.
