P&O Australia: Where Cruising Meets Cruising

Written by | The Lens, Travel

To paraphrase poet laureates The Go-Go’s: vagaytion, all I ever wanted. Those words rang true four decades ago, they rang through our quarantined consciousness for over a year, and they ring in a new era in queer travel today.

Apparently, one organization heard our decadent desires to set sail on the sassy seas of yass, please! P&O Australia recently announced the inaugural launch of their Pride Cruise, scheduled for early November 2021, and we are already clamoring for deets.

According to the company’s website, the naughty nautical gathering will be “A celebratory cruise for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies/supporters, to honour pride in self, the diversity of the community and the endless variety of talented artists, entertainers and educators in it.”

Consider our interest piqued. So, tell us more about the A-list talent you’ll have aboard, hmm?

Pink News reports that one such luminary will be Simon Dunn, the first openly gay bobsledder to represent Australia’s national team. And even though we’re sure he looked great in his Lycra body suit, we prefer something a little skimpier.

Dayyum, we would swab his poop deck any day.

Simon says mmm.

We could get lost in lust just gazing at Mr. Dunn, but let’s get back on course and discuss how you can join him on the love boat, aka P&O Australia. The itinerary begins and ends in Sydney, bookending three days on the open water.

Speaking of open, P&O’s agenda is one of open-mindedness and open-heartedness. “Our Pride Cruise will be a safe space for members of the community, something curated just for them.”

There is no sentiment more welcoming than inclusion. We can’t wait to leave the past year in our wake and awake to new possibilities on the horizon!

PS: Even though the following video has nothing whatsoever to do with the forthcoming Pride Cruise, it does feature a hairy shirtless hunk on a waterslide. Whet your appetites, fellas!
