Super (x2 Records)
On Super’s infectious dance-floor-ready lead single “The Pop Kids,” the band reminisces about the early days of electronic music and party hopping with lyrics such as: “We stayed out ‘til late five nights a week and felt so chic.” The entirety of Super feels simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic — it’s easily their most cohesive and captivating record in a decade. Since this summer marks the 30-year anniversary of the release of their groundbreaking debut album Please, the duo will perform a series of site-specific concerts at London’s Royal Opera House from July 20–23 featuring otherworldly costumes and choreography by Tony Award nominee Lynne Page. A North American tour is expected to be announced shortly. For ticket information on all performances, follow Pet Shop Boys on Twitter @petshopboys. Check out “The Pop Kids” below.
