Surprise! Gwen Stefani Just Dropped a Single

Gwen Stefani, one of only three two-time Metrosource covers, just released “Used to Love You” on Interscope Records.

She premiered the song Saturday night as the encore Saturday night in New York during her MasterCard Priceless Surprises concert at Hammerstein Ballroom. She called the song something “really special,” saying it’s bout the “pain and love and my real life.” (This is the first song released by Stefani since making public her divorce from Gavin Rossdale.)

Below, see the video for “Used to Love You,” directed by longtime No Doubt and Gwen Stefani collaborator Sophie Muller. Caution: It’s almost four minutes of Gwen in emotional agony.

“Used to Love You” joins “Baby Don’t Lie” and “Spark the Fire” as singles released within the past year with no announcement of a third solo album…yet. (Gwen chatted about those songs last year with Paul Hagen in our cover story, “Gwen Finds Her Voice.”)

The song is now available for download.
