It’s Christmas Eve and trans working girl Sin-Dee is just out of jail and on a manic odyssey across LA to find her unfaithful pimp.

Sin-Dee is accompanied by her loyal, level-headed friend Alexandra on a journey of near-operatic proportions that is also, appropriately, a deliciously hot mess. Director Sean Baker crafts a film that crackles with raw energy and, surprisingly, was captured entirely on iPhones. THE WORD: In addition to the exciting newcomers who play Sin-Dee and Alexandra, the film’s true stars are the streets themselves, where the ugly is made beautiful, and the mundane becomes extraordinary.
