McNally Jackson is an independent bookstore in New York City, aspiring to be the center of Manhattan’s literary culture: witness their events, their two floors of books, their engaged staff. Not to mention their bustling café, because what, after all, is reading without coffee? Yes, they arrange their literature by nation, but they’ll be glad to help if you find yourself lost amongst the Europeans. (They sell travel guides, too.)
Their café carries daily selections of fresh pastries and bagels from local suppliers including Ovenly, Balthazar, Murray’s, and Sarabeth. They offer delicious café fare including sandwiches, soups, and salads. Our coffee and teas are fair trade when possible, and organic. Our fresh, organic milk comes from the Hudson Valley.
You can’t be the center of any kind of culture without being online. Whatever your bookish preference—e or otherwise—you can now shop McNally Jackson from home. Visit their site, start searching at the top of your screen, or have a look at what they recommend. They deliver throughout Manhattan and will happily ship anywhere in the country. Elsewhere, you can reblog us on tumblr, friend them on facebook, and follow them on twitter.
