You won’t be able to swing Thor’s hammer without hitting a celebrity in Manhattan for the next ten days, because the annual Tribeca Film Festival has NYC abuzz.
The Tribeca Film Festival is always one of New York’s cultural highlights of the season, and this year is no exception. In addition to a reunion of the Taxi Driver cast, several directors will talk about the state of their art with interviewers. J.J. Abrams, the man responsible for not only rebooting Star Trek, but Star Wars will sit down with the always candid Chris Rock for a one-on-one. Joss Whedon, the man who brought us a decade of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fierceness only to do the same with Marvel’s The Avengers, takes questions from Mark Ruffalo, who he cast as the Hulk for the series.
In addition, Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón will go in-depth on his critically lauded films, including Children of Men and Gravity; Moulin Rouge directpr Baz Luhrmann and cultural critic/filmmaker Nelson George will chat about their new Netflix original series The Get Down, where George is part of the writing staff; the multi-talented Jodie Foster, whose new film, Money Monster (starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts), opens in May, speaks about her storied career with director Julie Taymor; and Fish Tank director Andrea Arnold will do the same.
