The 2018 NewFest 30th Annual Film Festival
October 24, 2018 - October 30, 2018
Every October, New York’s LGBT Film Festival features over 140 films, panels and parties, and attracts over 14,000 attendees from around the globe. The annual celebration of the year’s best LGBTQ film and media has grown to become a vital part of New York City’s cultural landscape, and one of the world’s premier gatherings of LGBTQ filmmakers and artists. For their 30th anniversary this year, NewFest is excited to share an incredible collection of narratives, documentaries, and shorts that portray diverse and compelling stories highlighting the LGBTQ experience.
Fresh from winning the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, Desiree Akhavan (The Miseducation of Cameron Post) co-writes, directs and stars in The Bisexual, a six-part comedy-drama coming to Hulu this November.
Devil’s Path, a psychological thriller from first-time director Matthew Montgomery, seamlessly blends sharp, opposing perspectives about sex and love with suspenseful set pieces filled with existential dread.
NewFest is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of Gus Van Sant’s Milk, which captures the spirit of ‘70s San Francisco and honors the doors opened by California’s first openly gay elected official. Join Metrosource & NewFest in celebrating these films, many more, and 30 years of queer storytelling at NewFest30.
