A new survey finds underage sex app users; the Pope now says that God made gay people, and Jennifer Anniston will have a wife in the White House.

Are Grindr Users Underage?

A new study from the Journal of Adolescent Health reports that of the 200 sexually active boys aged 14–17 surveyed, more than 50% of respondents reported they’re on Grindr. Many also report they’re on competing LGBTQ dating apps, but use them for more than sex alone.

Since the apps don’t investigate, users are able to join by simply lying about their age.

According to the authors, this study marks the first real exploration of the sex practices habits of gay and bi boys.

In an interview with The Chicago Tribune, Northwestern professor and author Dr. Kathryn Macapagal said, “I was surprised we didn’t know this information when we started the study, but a lot of folks don’t do research on people under the age of 18, especially on LGBT teens under the age of 18, for a variety of reasons. We found that teens in this study were super excited that somebody was paying attention with what was going on in their lives, and how these apps played a role in their sexual development and coming-out process.”

While on the surface, it might seem worrisome that kids under 18 are trolling the apps for sex, researchers also learned that underage Grindr were more likely to access sexual healthcare services, including HIV testing.

It’s a bit of a mixed bag, according to the researchers. As Macapagal sees it, these teens who might have had sex with other Grindr users, “these folks might have turned into friends, they might have turned into boyfriends. So there is some evidence that youth are getting lots more out of these apps than just sexual relationships.”

Jennifer Aniston to Play Lesbian President

Yes, there’ll be one soon — onscreen in the Netflix project, First Ladies. And, playing the President of the United States, her wife: Jennifer Aniston.

As Beverly Nicholson, Aniston will play not only the first woman president, but the first gay president in the film, and she’ll set up a home in the White House with comedian Tig Notaro, who’ll play her wife, Kasey.

First Ladies is based on an idea pitched to the platform by Notaro and her real-life wife Stephanie Allynne.
The show is still in development, but does have a clever tagline: “Behind every great woman… is another great woman.”

Pope Says God Made Gays

Pope Francis reportedly told a gay man that God made him gay.

Juan Carlos Cruz, When Chilean Juan Carlos Cruz met with the Holy Father two weeks ago, Cruz — who was molested by a Catholic priest — says his sexual orientation came up in conversation with the Pope because some bishops in Chile Called Cruz a pervert lying about the sexual abuse.

According to Cruz, the Pope’s response was unequivocal. “He told me, ‘Juan Carlos, that you are gay does not matter,’” said Cruz. “‘God made you like this and loves you like this and I don’t care. The pope loves you like this. You have to be happy with who you are.’”

That would be the first time such words were ever reported to come from the Head of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
