This Starz series follows a nurse from 1945
England who is mystically transported back in time to 1743 Scotland.
It’s replete with the kind of manly, kilted warriors and political intrigue that might seem lifted straight from a paperback romance novel (because it is), but don’t let that fool you: The story is actually very good. Crafted with a respectable amount of historical accuracy, this top-shelf production is fun for anyone who enjoys good period romance or has ever thought lustfully about what lies under a kilt. It’s difficult to say who is more beautiful, the ravishing Caitriona Balfe (pictured) or her strapping Scotsman Sam Heughan, who head up an excellent cast. THE WORD: Outlander’s quality is less surprising when you consider its source, creator Ronald D. Moore (of the critically acclaimed Battlestar Galactica) who will follow up this 16-episode season with another 13 episodes later this year. COMING TO: Home Video
