4 Reasons to Escape to Palm Beach for a Long, LGBTQ-friendly Weekend

What’s the secret to staying in love with big-city living? Getting away from it all! After all, you can’t have FOMO without doing a little missing. But where do you go? We look to Architectural Digest editor and design lover Benjamin Reynaert for the perfect weekend get-away with LGBTQ-friendly venues at the mid-century icon, Palm Beach.

1. The Flying Is Easy

“Delta, JetBlue and United all offer easy non-stop flights, to get you from NYC to Palm Beach in three hours.” Reynaert begins. “Book the earliest flight available so you can enjoy a full day in town, whether it’s on the beach, visiting the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, [enjoying] a show at the Kravis Center, or simply sightseeing the many Palm Beach destinations.”

2. You Can Use Your Hotel Room as Design Inspiration

The Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa is flanked by million-dollar condos, luxury estates, and all-around regency. This Mediterranean-flavored resort has a 40,000-square-foot spa with an expansive menu of treatments. Additionally, there are several restaurants and spacious guest rooms featuring oversized marble baths. What’s more, if you like what you see in your in-suite living room, it was all designed by Jonathan Adler. Feeling snuggly on the Butterfield sleeper sofa or nice in the Nixon slipper chair? Liking the looks of the mini Sputnik chandelier or the Bel Air Lucite scoop vase? Everything from the Preston cocktail table to the Talitha console is available in Jonathan Adler’s stores!

3. You Can Shop Until You Have to Ship

All things considered, you might want to abandon the idea of getting it all home in your luggage. “I love being so close to some of the most unique shops in the country but also a stone’s throw from the beach,” notes Reynaert. He also notes that you’ll be “uniquely positioned near one of the greatest antiques shopping destinations along South Dixie Highway.”

“If there’s one reason to vacation in Palm Beach, it’s to spend a day being pampered by the finest massage therapists,” says Reynaert. Picture yourself “relaxing in hot stone lounges and having a steam and sauna.” He recommends the Forbes-Five Star rated “l’Eau spa – spent an entire day there?!”

4. But There’s Plenty to Do Once You’re Relaxed

What do you do after you’ve achieved spa-induced bliss. Some of Jonathan Adler’s favorite activities include paddle boarding while looking for turtles and lunch at Belle and Maxwell’s. How about Benjamin Reynaert? “The Breakers for architectural inspiration, Worth Ave, of course for, shopping vintage. I actually quite enjoyed Church Mouse for some cheap thrills! As for eats, his recommendations include Green’s Luncheonette, The Blind Monk for coffee and Flagler’s Chophouse for steak. “And Sant Ambroeus for brunch, too,” he adds.
