On Friday at 6:00pm, the Consulate General of France in New York is organizing a reception during which the Paris 2018-Gay Games 10 program of 36 sports and 14 cultural events will be presented.

The Gay Games is a worldwide sporting and cultural event that promotes sexual diversity, and features lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender athletes and artists. From August, 4th to August, 12th 2018, Paris will host the 10th edition of the Gay Games.

This past November, representatives of major LGBTQ sport associations in New York came to the Consulate to launch the local promotion of this celebration of diversity, respect, equality, solidarity and sharing.

The reception on Friday, March 2nd will be the occasion to register for the Gay Games in Paris, and to enjoy fun entertainments.

Sundays Through March

This is where country music meets queer music. Queer country at its best is audaciously represented by recording stars Paisley Fields, a Brooklyn-based country and western band headed by frontman James Wilson. About to drop their newest album, Glitter and Sawdust, this band has created a strong buzz in the country music industry. Come see them live in person every Sunday in March from 6pm-8pm as they take over the legendary Hank’s Saloon.

March 7

Breckenridge, CO It’s the second time out for Break Pride — offering live music, daily après, a comedy night and costumed Color Run down the mountain. Experience Breck’s five huge peaks, four terrain parks, 11 ski bowls and the highest chairlift in North America. Book a room at the Beaver Run Resort, Pine Ridge Condominiums, or the Residence Inn Breckenridge. Local restaurants, shops and galleries are offering deals throughout the week.

Closer to home, there’s a play called Speed Queen: Sex, Speed and High Society that celebrates Joe Carstairs, heir to the Standard Oil fortune, who loved engineering, speed, and stiff competition; but above all, Joe loved women. Joe Carstairs broke the world speed record for motorboat racing in 1926.

Legere, a musical and performance art virtuoso, brings kinky billionaire “Joe” Carstairs to life in this vibrant solo show. In addition, Legere portrays several of Carstair’s glamorous movie star lovers including Tallulah Bankhead, Marlene Dietrich, Garbo and Mabel Mercer. Costumes: by Legere from her new #GNC Suit of Power Collection. Legere’s period costumes of the ’20s, ’30s and ’40s come from Ralph Lauren.

The performance is 70-minute play that includes immersive lesbian films, songs, dances, spectacular special effects and intimate portraits of Joe’s girlfriends: Marlene Dietrich, Tallulah Bankhead, Greta Garbo, Mabel Mercer, Billie Holiday and Dolly Wilde. At the center of the story is Gay-Pride pioneer Joe Carstairs.

Legere’s 4-octave powerhouse voice and multi-instrument mastery powers the opulent, raw, sizzling R&B of the musical score. Phoebe Legere’s 2017 album Heart of Love went to #18 on the national Roots chart.

Ongoing through April 1

What began as a low budget film and music venue in the basement of a Polish Church in 1978 became a cornerstone of New York’s alternative art scene. Club 57 paved the way for the experimental artists of the East Village who flocked there for low rents and its creative pulse. Now MoMA hosts the first major Club 57 exhibition to explore the scene-altering influence of Manhattan’s most artistically-inclined neighborhoods.
