Café Carlyle has been upping their game of mixing legends with rising stars, and the announcement of their 2016 winter season continues the trend.
Broadway legend Chita Rivera will open the season in the New Year with a sit-down from January 12 to 13. Rivera is, of course, beloved for roles in West Side Story, Chicago, Bye Bye Birdie and, last season, Kander and Ebb’s final musical The Visit. Her career garnered 10 Tony nominations and two wins (The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Café Carlyle is located in The Carlyle (35 East 76th Street, at Madison Avenue). More information about the Café Carlyle winter season lineup, including additional details about this show, to follow. The 2015 season continues with singer-songwriter Alexa Ray Joel through October 31; John Pizzarelli & Jessica Molaskey from November 3-28; and Steve Tyrell over the holidays, December 1-January 2.
We have recently been impressed by the venue’s programming of late, including Lena Hall, Megan Hilty and even Tony Danza.
