Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Bette Midler-founded New York Restoration Project on October 28, 2016 as the Waldorf Astoria’s ballroom is transformed with the hilarious Kathy Griffin hosting the evening for all to enjoy. The legendary Darlene Love will bring the house down with a special musical performance, and Marc Jacobs will bring his fashion expertise to ballroom floor as this year’s Costume Contest judge!
One lucky winner will receive a pair of tickets to the annual Hulaween party (Yes, we’ll need the name of your guest as well) and a copy of The Divine Miss M: Deluxe Edition – a double-CD set celebrating Bette Midler’s iconic 1972 debut album including the remastered album and a bonus disc of singles, outtakes and demos! For those who only know Ms. Midler from her Hollywood years, she was born in Hawaii and made her way to New York City where she first found acclaim in the early 1970s at a gay bathhouse called The Continental Baths. (There is video of a complete show there, by the way, on Youtube. Note that the skinny kid in the glasses and shag haircut is none other than her onetime pianist and arranger: Barry Manilow.)
