We asked Monique Heart of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars to give us some thoughts on current events and she offered opinions on her fellow queens – plus Trump and Pence.
When Naomi Smalls handed out the roles for the Sex and the Kitty Girl 3 maxi challenge, we knew that Monique Heart had a tough hill to climb ahead of her. The rest of the top five were channeling members of the show’s famous fab four. Monique seemed to get the goose-egg: channeling Kristen Johnston. Sure, K-Jo was one of the show’s most memorable guest stars, but she’d only appeared on one episode.
To top it off, during the initial read-through, Monique made some very strange choices. She seemed determined to play her character as though she had been severely physically compromised by a fall-from-a-window. It was not particularly funny. It was hard to understand. It was possibly insulting to actual survivors of physical trauma.
Fortunately, Monique brought none of that to the set. She was sharp, funny, watchable and just the right amount of over-the-top. She may not have made it into the top two, but she lived to sashay another day.
Since Monique was feeling so sharp, we hit her with some rapid fire questions. Was there a “Snatch Game” celeb she’d like to see that she hadn’t seen yet? Would she like to to comment on the singing talents of her All Stars 4 sisters? An did she have any opinion on the current administration? When we started rolling, she weighed in on it all. Watch her pop out the answers in our exclusive video:
“Metrosource wants to know what female impersonation that we have not seen on “Snatch Game”? Chelsea Handler,” said Monique. “A girl that can sing but doesn’t? Me! A girl who can sing but shouldn’t sing? Monet X. Change. And I think Pence, Trump and everybody else is gay.”
Since RuPaul told Monique to stay, watch our interview with the queen who sashayed away.
