I’ve been toying with an idea lately: I’m thinking of doing a series of photographs taken from the air and call it Bird’s Eye View. Is that cheesy? Maybe. So I like to think of this as a practice run: an arial look at San Diego, California.
Seeing things from street level gives you a horizontal view where so much of the sight lines are cluttered with images designed to capture a consumer’s attention. Soar above that a few hundred feet, and the feel of the city – and totally different, more serene settings come into view.
San Diego has been called “America’s Finest City.” How did San Diego earn such a distinction? Perhaps it’s the scenic coast line, the gorgeous houses, practically perfect weather year-round, the pristine beaches (and hot surfers), or the dramatic cliffs, awesome architecture, fine dining, lively vibrant downtown with its distinctly Mexican influence (and awesome Mexican food). Given those criteria, San Diego is certainly on top of the list.
Take another look at this gorgeous city from the bird’s eye view: Balboa Park, Coronado Island, Downtown, Carlsbad, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. Stunning.
