A Hundred Unseen Photos Surface in New Marilyn Monroe Book

The Essential Marilyn Monroe | By Milton H. Greene; ACC Art Books; $65
There’s something about Marilyn. She seems to represent so much we love about old Hollywood — from her transformation from Norma Jean to her knockout looks — all the while embodying a secret sadness we may never truly understand. Get up close and personal with the myth and the mystery, courtesy of Milton Greene, who had an extraordinary 50 sessions to capture Monroe on camera. The results are showcased in this collection of over 250 photographs (lovingly restored by Greene’s son Joshua) immortalizing Monroe at the height of her beauty and fame — including 100 never-before-published images, an introduction by photographer Douglas Kirkland and an essay about his father’s vision by Joshua Greene.
