George Takei, the champion of gay rights and winner at social media, will make his Broadway debut this fall in a new musical, Allegiance.
Written by Marc Acito (book) and Jay Kuo (music and lyrics), is the story of “a family’s love, loss and heroism during the period of the Japanese–American internment in World War II.” Stafford Arima directs.
The show was a hit recently at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre. The Broadway bow is set for October 6, 2015, and opening on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
His recent documentary To Be Takei showed us he’s created a second act in showbiz that blends activism and entertainment. His Twitter feed is a nonstop testament to that, which will have that to tide us over until the curtain goes up this fall.
Details, including casting updates and ticket info, will be announced at www.AllegianceMusical.com.
