Aim to drink 8 ounces of water for every glass of beer or wine you had (or every shot of liquor in your mixed drinks); it will help dilute the toxins and rehydrate you.

Eat! Even if it’s stretching your calorie count for the day, it’s better to have a bite of something rather than go to bed with nothing but alcohol sloshing around in your stomach.

You may be craving time to unwind, but turn off that late-night TV in order to get as much sleep as possible. Every minute helps.

Skip the coffee and pour yourself a big glass of orange juice. Your body needs fuel to recover — not stimulants on top of depressants.

Shock yourself awake with a refreshing cold shower. It will replace the get-up-and-go you usually get from coffee and wash off the smell of the alcohol you’ve been sweating out of your system all night long.
