The Lammys at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing arts

Each year, the Lambda Literary awards recognize writing in genres from “Lesbian Poetry” to “Transgender Nonfiction.” This year’s finalists include books we’ve proudly featured in our pages, including Cleve Jones’ When We Rise, Augusten Burroughs’ Lust and Wonder, Donald Albrecht’s Gay Gotham and more. Executive Director Tony Valenzuela says of these works: “Never in my lifetime have LGBTQ stories felt so important as a means of being recognized and counted, as a form of resistance to this dangerous political climate we find ourselves in.” The Lammys will be awarded on June 12 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing arts. lambdaliterary.org
