Mika Releases "Good Guys" Video

Mika has released the third video off his upcoming album No Place In Heaven.

“Good Guys” seems to pick up where his most recent, “Talk About You,” a “love letter to Freddie Mercury,” left off and goes on to call the Freddies of today to step up.

“Good Guys” name checks a list of LGBT artists and thinkers — Rufus Wainwright, W.H. Auden, Wilfred Owen, Alfred Kinsey, Walt Whitman, Cole Porter, etc. — and asks where they and their ilk have gone. Oscar Wilde, too, makes an appearance with a reference to his “gutter/stars” epigram. (It must be said, though, here in our ’90s-loving office it’s the Paula Cole reference that opens the song we’re loving, but that’s neither here nor there.)

It’s not the same uptempo roll call as in Madonna’s “Vogue” (though both drop James Dean’s name) but serves the same function of yesteryear idolatry. Give it a watch!

No Place In Heaven is out June 16 and is available now for pre-order. Mika performs on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series July 3.
