Are You Still “Hopelessly Devoted” as “Grease” Turns 40?

The cultural phenomenon and second most successful movie musical of all time, Grease, is celebrating a big milestone with its new 40th Anniversary Edition, available as of April 24. So you better shape up, cause you need this timeless classic on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD or Digital.

Relive the legendary performances from stars John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Stockard Channing and the rest of the memorable cast of The Pink Ladies and T-Birds — singing “Greased Lightning,” “Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” “Summer Nights,” “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” “Beauty School Drop Out,” and, naturally, “Grease”— that helped make the film about a classic love story and high school life in the 1950s a huge success.

The 40th Anniversary Edition 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Combo Packs include a fully digitally restored version of the film with enhanced quality sound, picture resolution and color, making for an exceptional home-viewing experience. Plus, you never have to hunt down where it’s streaming when you’re in the mood for an impromptu hand jive

Viewers can also learn about the little-known origins of the film with “Grease: A Chicago Story.” This brand-new exploration takes an in-depth look of the phenomenon that would go on to become a Broadway play and then a feature film and eventually worldwide phenomenon with interviews with writer Jim Jacobs and original cast members of the Chicago show. The discs also include never-before-seen- alternate animated main titles and an alternate ending found on the original black & white 16mm work print, discovered by director Randal Kleiser.

Both combo packs also feature more than an hour of bonus materials, including sing-alongs, vintage interviews with the cast, and deleted scenes. The Blu-ray Combo also comes in collectible packaging with 16 pages of images laid out like a high school yearbook.

A Grease collection will also be available in a Steelbook — which is a limited run of a Blu-ray or game that comes packaged in a premium metal case with special artwork and other features. In this case, it’s a locker, which includes the 40th Anniversary Blu-ray of GREASE, its sequel, GREASE 2 starring Michelle Pfeiffer and GREASE: LIVE! on Blu-ray for the first time.
