Los Angeles may have a reputation as a driver’s town, but spend a weekend in West Hollywood and you could easily find yourself walking everywhere you want to go. With that in mind, we’ve outlined some hot stops for your WeHo stroll.
Start on Santa Monica Blvd. A historic thoroughfare (it was once part of Route 66), it’s anything but stuck in the past. You’ll find the Boulevard boasts a vibrant LGBT district full of gay bars and other gay-owned businesses. Bookmark the places you’ll want to hit later for cocktails, such as Micky’s and gay WeHo mecca The Abbey — not to mention Fiesta Cantina for a recovery brunch the next day.
More Content from MetrosourceThe West Hollywood Design District is a great walker’s destination. Bound by Melrose Ave., Robertson Blvd. and Beverly Blvd., the area surrounding the landmark Pacific Design Center is a hub of interior design showrooms to shop. If you’re dragging a bit, take a load off at Urth Caffé on Melrose — filled with Hollywood hipsters and great for salads and light eats. When night falls, the 1.6 miles of The Sunset Strip are packed with nightspots both famous and infamous (like The Viper Room) and boutique hotels, like The Sunset Marquis, with its hip crowd that offers a spa, art gallery, Bar 1200 and its ever-popular covered outdoor restaurant set amid a green landscaped paradise. The Grafton on Sunset also just finished a major renovation. So leave the car keys at home, tie those laces, and go walk WeHo!
