2015 Miss'd America Pageant Crowns Fifi Dubois at Borgata

A new queen was officially crowned in Atlantic City over the weekend when Fifi Dubois, a resident performer at New York City’s Boots & Saddle, proudly accepted her tiara at the Miss’d America Pageant. This year’s competition was held at the swank Borgata Hotel & Casino’s Music Box Theatre this past Saturday.

Honey Davenport, the last year’s Miss’d America gave a high energy introduction to this year’s pageant opening with a special space-themed performance of Shirley Bassey’s “History Repeating” followed by a parade of the former Miss’d America winners and the presentation of this year’s nine contestants: Fifi Dubois (Florida), Holly Dae (Massachusetts), Margeaux Powell (Massachusetts), Pattaya Hart (New York), Sandra Onassis Lopez (Virginia), Tina Burner (New York), Vita Summers (Texas), Alexis Michelle (New York), and Sapphira Cristal (Texas).

The Miss’d America Pageant was started by John Schultz and Gary Hill in 1991 on the Sunday after the Miss America Pageant as a cheeky way to raise cash for local LGBT charities. This year’s event was a sold-out affair, raising funds for the Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance and the Schultz-Hill Scholarship Foundation. Carson Kressley, judge on the most recent season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and breakout star of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was on hand to host, joke, banter and congratulate each of the girls. Each of the nine performers brought a different fire to the competition during the talent portion of the evening including heartfelt and sometimes teary nods to those who fought and paved the way for them to take to the stage in 2015. Standout performances included Margeaux Powell’s thoughtful performance about bullying and LGBT bashing within the community and Alexis Michelle’s powerhouse musical reimagination of My Fair Lady, which received a standing ovation.

Each of the contestants walked in shimmering evening and swimwear before the top five contestants were announced (Fifi DuBois, Pattaya Hart, Alexis Michelle, Margeaux Powell, and Sapphira Cristal). These lucky semifinalists were each given a question from the panel of judges which included a range of personal to political topics. After the questions the judges deliberated and Fifi Dubois was chosen as the winner. Dubois and all the contestants joined the crowd for dancing, drinks, laughter, and a marvelous Kiki upstairs at the Borgata Event Center.

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa hosted Metrosource for the weekend at their fabulous Water Club, a stunning boutique-lifestyle hotel located in Renaissance Pointe in Atlantic City.
