Last night on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart looked at how the media’s been discussing Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover.
Though Stewart predicted new outlets to blunder talking about transgender issues — “Well all know the media: They’re awful.” — he pulled several clips of talking heads doing it well. Until he didn’t. He immediately followed that roll with a series of journos talking about Jenner as woman in the only way the media seems to know how: “She’s hot.” Fox News got the segment’s coda for adding some “slut-shaming” in to the mix.
The Daily Show has been nailing media doublespeak of late, with Kristen Schaal’s recent segment on the invention of #dadbod, which applies to women a touch…differently.
