Your (Gay) Honeymoon in Gay Paris

Get un peu d’aide in planning the perfect Parisian honeymoon.

By Jeffrey James Keyes

The events of November 23, 2015, have not changed the fact that Paris remains the City of Love and a great place to head for a romantic honeymoon. We can tell you that you can no longer hang a padlock on one of the famous “love-locking” bridges over the Seine, but there are tour operators and travel services available to lovebirds who offer so much more. Two worth checking out are O Chateau and My Paris Gay Honeymoon.

After a career with French beverage giant Pernod Ricard, Rémi Ameline went on to created My Paris Gay Honeymoon (myparisgayhoneymoon.com), which offers honeymooners a chance to experience both the must-see landmarks and less-discovered local spots, what the company refers to as “the Parisians’ Paris.” My Paris Gay Honeymoon can arrange accommodations, build an itinerary featuring a range of experiences, and line up personalized services to ensure a stress-free honeymoon.

My Paris Gay Honeymoon has six ready-to-go trips. For those who want all the classic Parisian postcard shots, the Creative and Cultural Heritage option features sights such as Versailles, the Eiffel Tower and the Museum D’Orsay — along with must-see spots like the Palais de Tokyo, the Pompidou Center and the Cartier Foundation.

For foodies, the Paris-Bordeaux Culture & Gastronomy option includes dinner at the Grand Louvre restaurant, tastings in notable Parisian wine cellars, and a chance to taste the “Tour de France of Cheese.” Then it’s on to Bordeaux to experience castles, vineyards and more gastronomic delights. If Bordeaux is not high on your list, there’s Paris, Provence, Wellness, which includes a romantic escape to an idyllic country house from which you can explore colorful Provence.

Or you can go your own way with the tailor-made feature and build a custom itinerary. Choose a home base — like an artist’s studio in Central Paris, bohemian digs in the Marais, or an apartment in the Bastille. Then select exactly the Parisian culture, food, walking tours, or nightlife excursions you want. Services like airport pickup, laundry, or a private photographer are also available.

On the imbibing front, O Chateau (o-chateau.com) has helped over 150,000 people explore France’s finer things since 2004. Their Champagne Cruise spends an hour on the Seine by riverboat, while you sip Champagne and learn about the beverage’s history. For even more Champagne, they also offer a day trip to the region, which offers more insider-exploration of bubbly and lunch in the country.

Back in Paris, La Cave Tasting Room is an ornate 17th-century tasting room where Jean-Jacques Rousseau used to sip wine and share deep thoughts. Snuggle up your new spouse while enjoying five of the tasting room’s favorite wines in their two hour “Tour de France of Wine” — then head over to the Rodin Museum to explore the sculpture garden and round out your day with a selfie in front of The Kiss so all of your Instagram followers can swoon.
