Show queens, rejoice! Anyone who missed the chance to see Audra McDonald’s transformative turn as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill can see HBO’s filmed version of the stage show, premiering March 12 and available On Demand thereafter.
McDonald won her astonishing sixth Tony Award for the role, for which she reigned in her famously soaring soprano to deliver smoky renditions of Holiday’s greatest hits. As an added bonus: If, after seeing it, you still can’t get over missing it live, you can hop across the pond, where she’ll wow audiences with the production all over again on London’s West End this summer. hbo.com
