Axel Hotels Welcomes LGBT Visitors to its Newest Home: South Beach

International travelers know Axel hotels and their reputation for making LGBT visitors feel welcome in such tourist destinations as Barcelona, Berlin and Ibiza.

Now the boutique hotel organization is finally opening a US property — in Miami. AxelBeach Miami is on track to debut later this year, and it’s just one of the new spots where you and your special someone(s) can expect to be treated like royalty.

Axel Hotels is also pushing full steam ahead with its expansion plan to open its first hotel in Portugal, on the island of Madeira, which is set to open in 2020.

As the first hotel chain in the world for the LGBTI community, Axel is also pushing forward with its international expansion plan with a new hotel on the island of Madeira set to open in the second half of 2020, with a property representing the company’s first hotel in Portugal.

It’s all a part of Axel’s overarching plan to debut ten hotels in the next four years. The new hotel will be located in the island’s capital in the old quarter of Funchal near the capital’s main tourist attractions. In addition, the hotel will be built from scratch and include 88 rooms spread over two adjoining buildings. It will boast all the services which characterize an Axel Hotel, with the aim of becoming a real focal point for tourists visiting the city.

These include a restaurant, fitness and spa center, a lounge bar and a rooftop sky bar with a pool, sundeck and lounge, where guests will experience the unique feel of Axel and its hetero-friendly philosophy. This project will also benefit the local economy by directly creating dozens of new jobs.

Madeira is considered to be one of the Atlantic’s most outstanding natural paradises and is the perfect destination for those in search of an unforgettable experience, due in a large part to its wide array of outdoor activities and breathtaking scenery.

Add to that the city’s rich history (reflected in its elegant narrow streets), the friendliness and hospitality of its people, and its unique food, capable of winning over those with the most finicky of palettes. As always, Axel Hotels’ guests will have the chance to enjoy unique leisure activities in a relaxing and natural setting, as well as take part in those geared towards wellness and a healthy lifestyle.

Undoubtedly, the presence of the Axel Hotels chain in Madeira will mean more cosmopolitan and high-quality tourism for the island. Apart from this new launch planned for 2020 and those currently in the pipeline (AxelBeach Miami, Axel Hotel San Sebastián and Axel Hotel Valencia), the company is also working to establish new projects at other international destinations.
