Living Space
While you’re running around NYC, don’t miss Charlie West (505 W 43rd St.), which aims to allow residents to feel like they’re on a permanent staycation at five-star resort. Interior designer Andres Escobar fuses raw and natural materials with sumptuous textures and bespoke finishes in loftlike spaces and hotel-grade amenities to create a relaxing retreat. Inspired by the welcoming experience at leading world hotels, Escobar reinvents the lobby as a double-height resident lounge and library. A swimming pool and children’s playroom open on an expansive 6,000-square-foot center courtyard linking the project’s twin 16-story buildings. A two-level fitness center is positioned to maximize light, and even the bike storage has become a sculptural centerpiece.
Designed by noted architecture firm ODA New York, Charlie West aims to amp up its Hell’s Kitchen personality — bringing downtown style to midtown. Residences range from studios to three-bedroom homes, including penthouses with substantial terraces and commanding skyline views. Pricing begins in the high $700,000s with 2-bedrooms starting under $2 million. Charlie West is a co-development between the Elad Group, the New York arm of a leading luxury world real estate development firms, and Mi&Co, a New York-based developer. It’s slated for late 2018 completion. Visit charliewestny.com.
