“No Vegas, no giant club dates, Kathy Griffin’s taken all those,” Joan Rivers kvetched in her documentary, A Piece of Work. Every joke, they say, is born from truth, and yes, Rivers was wary of being bumped by younger comedians. She insisted that she hated being known as the woman who opened doors for future female funnyladies because, as she said, “I’m still opening the doors!” In actuality, Rivers and Griffin were friends, and it just feels right that Griffin is nabbing one last gig from her pal: co-hosting Fashion Police on E! Though the show will move from weekly programming to making special appearances for fashionable times of year like awards season, we’re confident that Griffin will do a terrific job filling Rivers’ tasteful shoes.
