Scissor Sisters’ Shears Steps out for a Solo Career

The former lead singer of Scissor Sisters, Jake Shears, has just released a video and single from his forthcoming album — the first of his solo career.

Shears, who has a sizable LGBT following, is well known for his Bee Gees’ register tenor, recasting Pink Floyd’s druggie dirge “Comfortably Numb” into a dancefloor disco anthem and collaborating with such gay icons as Elton John (“I Don’t Feel Like Dancin'”) and Sir Ian McKellen (“Invisible Light”).

With the exception of a track issued last spring to observe Pride month, Scissor Sisters has been largely silent, with fans left to speculate whether the group is no more or simply on an extended hiatus. This weekend, he returns for a solo show November 12 at Elswhere in Brooklyn.
