The Highline Ballroom Hosts "Drag Race" Premiere Party – With the Queens

Hey New York! Looking to watch the Season 8 premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race? We’ve got your venue.

Ru, but you knu that

It’s that time of year again — when RuPaul sashays her way back onto our televisions with a new crop of queens vying for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” During the program’s seven seasons, I have watched it with raucous crowds of strangers, among intimate parties of friends, and all alone by my very own self, and I can safely say that when it comes to a show as bright and brassy as RuPaul’s Drag Race: the more, the merrier. If you (like me) have ever googled, “Where can I watch Drag Race in public?”, you may be interested to know about this viewing option for anyone who can make it to NYC for the big night.

The Highline Ballroom (where I’ve had the pleasure of seeing artists such as former Metrosource cover guys Well-Strung) is a great venue, and Monday, March 7, it will be the scene for “The ONLY Premiere Party”, a live viewing event featuring the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 premiere. The evening will be feature three of the NYC queens competing on Drag Race this season: Bob TheDragQueen, Acid Betty & Thorgy Thor. There will be commentary (no tea, no shade) and live performances by each of the queens — plus welcoming beats by DJ Rico Alexis.

(L to R) Acid Betty, Bob TheDragQueen, Thorgy Thor

Doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8:30pm — in advance of the 9pm airing of the Season 8 premiere, which will also be Drag Race’s 100th episode and mark the 100th queen to walk the show’s inimitable runway. Tickets are $40 General Admission or $70 for a VIP post-show meet & greet with the performers (available on a first come, first served basis). Get tickets at TicketWeb and visit High Line Ballroom for directions and more information about the venue.

As RuPaul says, this season’s premiere will be “her-story in the making!” And when it comes to Drag Race, what good is sitting alone in your room?
