The Movement Don’t Mess with Trans Kids Has Raised Over $120,000 in Fighting Against Bigotry

Conservative Senators spent an inordinate amount of time questioning Ketanji Brown Jackson about her record on sexual abuse cases. They dutifully read from their Fox News scripts and feigned concern about the very victims they wanted to exploit for political gain.

Oh, and in case you hadn’t noticed: they’re massive, gaping hypocrites.

In the same breath that right-wingers decry child endangerment, they engage in – you guessed it – child endangerment. Dozens of draconian bills are slithering their way through legislatures across the country, and nowhere is the cruelty more robust than in Texas.

Ignorance has been simmering in the Lone Star State for centuries, but Governor Greg Abbott recently reignited it in one toxic letter.

“The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has now confirmed in the enclosed opinion that a number of so-called ‘sex change’ procedures constitute child abuse under existing Texas law. Because the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is responsible for protecting children from abuse, I hereby direct your agency to conduct a prompt and thorough investigation of any reported instances of these abusive procedures in the State of Texas.”

Pushing the fascism further, Abbott’s message targets caretakers across the state who strive to help kids live their respective truths.

“Texas law also imposes a duty on DFPS to investigate the parents of a child who is subjected to these abusive gender-transitioning procedures, and on other state agencies to investigate licensed facilities where such procedures may occur.”

This is the moment in the movie when we, as a society, are tied to the railroad tracks while a locomotive barrels down on us. So who will ride in to save the day? T-shirt wearing heroes, that’s who!

A movement called Don’t Mess with Trans Kids is selling apparel, mugs, totes and other collectibles for a great cause: defeating the deluge of bigotry that threatens to destroy our community.

The initiative just got a burst of visibility when gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke posted the following tweet:
