People We Love 2015: Caitlyn Jenner

We love Caitlyn Jenner for changing the conversation…

In certain ways, Caitlyn Jenner has turned out to be a surprisingly divisive figure in the LGBT Community. Some have taken issue with her politics; others have pointed out that fame and financial resources have allowed her to embrace her glamorous new life in a way that would simply not be achievable to trans people of more modest means. Yet she’s also displayed undeniable bravery — in her iconic interview with Diane Sawyer, her instantly legendary Vanity Fair cover, even her surprisingly thoughtful E! docuseries I Am Cait. Imagine being her, about to become the controversial recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPY awards in a room full of people more used to cheering touchdowns than trans people: It’s clear that she has earned her ovation.
