People We Love

Who Won the “Legendary NYC Drag Queen We Love” Slayletto?

The votes are in, and you’ve chosen one fabulous queen to join this year’s list of People We Love.

Ladies and gentlemen – your 2018 “Legendary NYC Drag Queen We Love” – Tina Burner!

We started with seven drag queens —all deserving of the accolade “legendary” — each one vying for a place on our annual list of People We Love.

The queens mounted impressive campaigns, many shared videos encouraging their fans to vote for them online (and even throwing some sassy shade at their legendary sisters).

But in the end — after one queen withdrew her name from contention, and we’d tallied the combined votes from those who voted both online and in person at our booth at DragCon — one has taken this year’s crown: Tina Burner.

The first ever “Legendary NYC Drag Queen We Love” Slayletto goes to Tina Burner!

“Thank you to all the Metrosource family and readers!” said the victorious Burner. “It’s especially an honor knowing that Sherry Vine had to move away cause I won.“

A self-described “linebacker in a pantsuit,” Tina is the winner of numerous titles and crowns. She most recently won Miss Fire Island 2018.

“I view drag as an opportunity to carry conversations and push certain messages. It’s a responsibility and I use it as a platform to promote my two mantras: ‘treat everyone how you want to be treated’ and ‘we are stronger as a community than we are as a nation.’ Stick together and stand for your beliefs. Be the change, don’t sit and wait for it,” said Burner.

Who is Tina Burner?

Tina Burner has been performing drag for nearly a decade, and is a staple in the New York drag scene with her one-of-a-kind comedy, wit and costumes.

“I honestly can’t thank everyone enough for their continued support and patronage to my career and establishments I work in. Without the support of the LQBTQIA community, I wouldn’t be where I am today. The only reason I do what I do is to have the superpower of changing someone’s day and putting a smile on their face. To all my fellow nominees, without you trailblazing the way I wouldn’t exist. Much love from this linebacker in a pantsuit,” said Burner.

A Big Thank You.

Tina Burner came to slay.

Congratulations to Tina Burner and best wishes for continued success to Sherry Vine, Joey Arias, Shequida Hall, Hedda Lettuce, Lypsinka and Lady Bunny (who withdrew from the contest early on). To see videos and learn more about each queen, visit metrosource.com/legendaryqueens.
